Please describe what happened. Monther In Law went in for hysterectomy surgery in early Aug 2007. 2 days later after short walk around the hospital floor with my sister in law she came out of bathroom with look on her face like she could not breath. Sister In Law is is a respiratory therapist. She call out CODE BLUE over a over again as she helped her mother to the floor. Nurses came but only watched as the Sister In Law performed CPR on her mother. The Sister In Law told them to get the crash cart and continued CPR The nurses failed jumped in to take over or even to help with the CPR. A few min later a Doctor showed up and took over CPR. The crash cart had a oxygen canister but it was empty. It also did not have the correct mask for assisting patients in breathing. My Mother In Law died at the age of 68. We were told that after investigating they determined that my Mother In Law had a blood cot the went to her lungs and in cases like this there is little chance of living. Upon hearing this story from my wife I told her that she and her sister should sue the hospital for negligence so this does not happen to anyone else. The hospital provided an official report of the incident and it had been written as though the nurses jumped in and took over and the crash cart was fully stocked. My wife and her sister did not sue the hospital. My wife said I was telling her to SUE just for the money. I told her sue and donate it or put in the grand children’s college fund. To this day I wonder how many others at that hospital may have been injured by their ongoing negligence.

What was the outcome of the medical harm issue? Death
